You Make My Heart Smile! MIM!

I had just a few moments to play in my crafty space today. On my way outside now to paint some bookshelves for my classroom.  I am hoping the clouds stay back long enough for the paint to dry. Oh dear!

This card is truly out of my comfort zone.  It is quirky and whimsical.   I am playing along with this week's Papertrey's Make It Monday Challenge.  We are to use crayon resist technique.  I generally love this technique; however, I had some issues with my crayon.  I have a white twist up crayola crayon.  I am thinking the wax content is either really low or really old at this point.  A lot of my ink just absorb over the crayon area anyway.  I used white crayon on all the back frames so the white would show through.  I used the crayon on the accent images as well as the focal sentiment area.  Luckily, that showed pretty well.

I do prefer to do this technique with high gloss paper, but I did not have any.  I made my focal point quirky and try to keep the whole card whimsical.  I searched my stash of PTI images and realized I have very few if any outlined stamps.  Hmmm.   In keeping with the whimsical, quirky theme, I cut some pom poms off of a roll of pom pom fringe and added to my seam binding bow.  Finished with a couple touches of gems.
Cute and fun!  Makes my heart SMILE!

You Are So Special, Birthday Wishes, and a C4C Sketch!

Happy Saturday!   It is time for another Crazy 4 Challenge with the Crazies!   Check out the C4C blog for more challenge details at Crazy 4 Challenges(C4C199).

This week's challenge is a sketch!

It has definitely been a little crazy around here getting back into a school schedule.  I spent several days decorating, dusting, and organizing my classroom as well as attending some workshops.    When I finally found the time to spend some time in my crafty space, I created a card and totally left off a section of the sketch.  I must have a mental sketch block or something.  I only see the elements I want to see?   LOL!    Anyway, it has taken me til now to get a chance to make another, hence the late post!

For my first card I am using Verve's Sweet Treats and So Fluttery stamp sets.  I am also using Verve's Banner Bundle, Pennant Trim, Classy Label, and Flutterby dies.  I finished my card using Verve's Stormy Skies Ribbon Collection in Deep Sea.  I am using MME Oxford Lane dp.  I am playing along with JUGS:  Monochromatic Blues!  I used all teals!

For my second card which does not follow the sketch exactly, I am using Verve's Up Up & Away  and Circular Sayings stamp sets along with the Pennant Trim die cut with scissors to look more like grass in a meadow with a setting sun on the horizon.  I rarely do many whimsical feeling cards, but I thought I would give it a try.   I finished this card with Verve's Sailing Ribbon Collection in Moss Green.  I also used MME Remarkable dp.  I am playing along with the Curtain Calls Inspiration Challenge: Carnival Craze.

Congrats! MIM, a Sketch, and a Reel!

Happy Saturday!  I had a little bit of time in my crafty space supposedly cleaning it to make a card.  I am playing along with a few blog challenges for this card.  I am playing along with  Papertrey's Make It Monday Challenge.   This week is randomly stamped backgrounds.

I am using the sketch from this week's Seize the Sketch.  My inspiration came from this week's The Ribbon Reel Challenge.  Love the bold contrast with the chevrons and the flowers.  I am playing A Passion for Papertrey's Challenge, too!   The challenge is 3 embellishments.  I used ample restraint and ONLY used three clear gems in the center of my flowers.  So hard! LOL!

I am using PTI's With All My Heart stamp set and the Limitless Layers Hearts dies.  I mixed harvest gold, raspberry fizz, hibiscus burst inks for flowers and simply chartreuse for leaves.  I used Memento tuxedo black for sentiment.  I also used PTI rustic white and true black card stocks.  MFT chevron dies.  I topped the focal flowers with a few clear gems.

Crazy 4 Challenges: It's School Time!

Happy Saturday!   It is time for another Crazy 4 Challenge with the Crazies!   Check out the C4C blog for more challenge details at Crazy 4 Challenges(C4C198).

This week's challenge is all about
Back to School!

For my card I am using Verve's Teachers Count, Calendar Countdown, Happy Days, and Time to Blossom Plain Jane  stamp sets.  I combined these sets with some Verve's Cut Above Apples die set.

I combined the Teachers Count set with the Apples die and Calendar Countdown set and created an Apple Clock!  For my sentiment, I used Happy Days and Time to Blossom PJ to create some ransom-like letters to create the title for a Back to School card.

Crazy 4 Challenges! Beautiful Just the Way You Are

Happy Saturday!   It is time for another Crazy 4 Challenge with the Crazies!   Check out the C4C blog for more challenge details at Crazy 4 Challenges(C4C197).

This week's challenge is all about
paper piecing!

For my card I am using Verve's Beautiful Plain Jane, Bountiful Backgrounds, Blue Skies, and Love Notes stamp sets.  I combined these sets with some Verve's Cut Above Occasion Frame, Classy Label, and All Aflutter die sets.  I am playing along with this

For the paper piecing challenge,  I decided to take a different paper piecing approach.  I just love all the quatrefoil dies that are popping up all over.  If you have had a chance to play with one of these dies, you know that it is fun fun to paper piece all those little sections back into the frame in various patterns.  That is exactly what I did here.  I combined various patterns from Simple Stories Vintage Bliss dp.   I die cut a frame using my Lifestyles Trelis border die.  I then added all the little die cut paper pieces from the various pattern papers.  I stamped and layered my Verve frames.   I added a copic colored Verve All Aflutter butterfly topped with some sparkle.  I finished with a seam binding bow topped with button using Verve's Cut Above Spring Fling Ribbon Collection in Aqua.

I am playing along with a few other blog challenges this week.  I am playing with the Curtain Calls Color Inspiration Challenge.   Thought these colors worked perfectly with the inspiration picture.   I am playing along with Moxie Fab Worlds Tuesday Trigger:  It's Collagical!  I think this trelis background with the patterns I chose work perfectly for a modern take on a colligical feel!  I am also playing along with the Friday MashUp!  It is all about polka dots!

Celebrating With You! MIM and MORE!

Happy Thursday!  I made a card for this week's Make It Monday Challenge.   I am also playing along with this week's Retro Sketch Challenge.

This week's MIM is all about double backgrounds.  I used PTI Inspiration Background Basics and Half and Half both stamped in Fine Linen ink to create my double background.  I then added one panel of dotted scarlet jewel paper topped with a dark chocolate half and half die stamped with dark chocolate image that coordinates with the one used for the background.
I added a tag using Mat Stack 7  embossed  with sentiment used from the Delightful Additions set.    I then added a Delightful Additions  flower topped with scarlet jewel button.  The entire background panel was added to a scarlet jewel background that was embossed with PTI impressions plate.  As far as the sketch goes, I turned it upside down.
