Happiness is....

Happy Saturday!   It is time for another Crazy 4 Challenge with the Crazies!   Check out the C4C blog for more challenge details at Crazy 4 Challenges(C4C196).

This week's challenge is all about
a picnic!  You can interpret this however you wish.
Food, fun, family, fresh air, or all of the above!

For my card I am using Verve's On Occasion, Twitterpated, Joyful Blooms, Treasured Words, and Dream Big stamp sets.  I combined these sets with some Verve's Cut Above Occasion Frame, Pennant Trim, Dreamy Leaves, Joyful Blooms, and Hearts & Swirls Frame die sets.  I am playing along with this Viva la Verve July Week 5 sketch/optional inspiration challenge.

For the picnic themed challenge, I think of picnic blankets placed on some grass in a field with flowers and greenery all around.   I thought the die cuts looked like my idea of blankets layered on some grass.    I added the touch of deep blue panel in the middle of my meadow of flowers to mimic the possibility of a stream or pond nearby.   I think of family and friends when I think of picnics which is why I chose this sentiment.   I added some touches of gingham because when I think of a picnic I think "gingham" as well.    I chose colors to work with the Verve Inspiration photo.

Splitcoaststampers Dare to Get Dirty Challenges kick off today!  I am playing along with a couple of those challenges as well! Check out my card here to find out which challenges I am playing!

July 2013 Papertrey Ink Blog Hop!

 Blog-hop-logo

Happy Thursday!  I am playing along with Papertrey Ink's monthly blog hop today!  This month's challenge is all about Color Inspiration!

Fruits-of-Summer-2

Pencil Pouch!  I chose the inspiration colors to the right for my card.  I tried to venture outside of my normal flowery cards to do something a little different.  In about  a month it will be time for school again.  After seeing that new jumbo Mat Stack 7 die, I just knew it would make the cutest chubby pencils.  Then, after I assembled the card, I realized this chubby pencil was big enough to make a pencil pouch.  I chose to add a sentiment panel, but a gift card or even a treat or two could easily slide into the pouch.

I used the the largest Mat Stack #7 die and cut out rustic white, summer sunrise, melon berry, and new leaf card stocks.  I cut the rustic white all the way across the "V" center.  I then inked up the pencil tip using the Background:  Woodgrain stamp and inked with harvest gold.  I added a smudge of black ink for a graphite point using the tip of my Memento dew drop in Expresso Truffle.  For the jagged sharpened pencil barrel I used the 1 3/4" pinking edge circle.

My pencil inspiration came from Ticonderoga Pencils.  I have always loved these pencils so the green band at the top was perfect.  I did opt for a little dimension so I used the grid image from Background Basics: Geometric stamped in New Leaf on New Leaf.  For the eraser, the melon berry was the perfect eraser color.  I did enhance the depth a bit with some more melon berry ink sponged on the edges.  All the pieces were ink distressed just a bit with some Rangers Brushed Corduroy.  I just love the chubby pencil look.  The fact that it can be a pencil pouch makes it even better!

Just Because

Happy Monday!   I am fashionably late with my Crazy 4 Challenges card this week.  We had family in from out of town for a few days.  Fun times, but no crafty moments were to be had.  Anyway, better late than never!   Check out the C4C blog for more challenge details at Crazy 4 Challenges(C4C195).

It is sketch week!

For my card I am using Verve's Strong Anchor  and Circular Sayings stamp set.  I combined this set with some Verve's Cut Above Nautical die set.  I used a blue background.  Used circle dies and white embossed the rope border from Strong Anchor stamp set.  I die cut my nautical dies and stamped the image with harvest gold to keep with the Curtain Call inspiration piece.  I am playing along with the Curtain Calls Feeling Nautical Challenge.  I love the simple, yet bold look of this card.

Check out what the rest of the team did with this week's challenge!

For My Sweet Friend!

Happy Thursday!  WOW!  The week is almost over.   I thought I would pop in with a quick card.  I am playing along with a few SCS Challenges as well as ODBD Shining the Light Challenge.

For ODBD Shining the Light Challenge(ODBDSLC162), we are to use white/cream and one other color.  I chose Royal Velvet.  It is a deep rich purple.  I combined this challenge with a few SCS Challenges.  This week's Sketch Challenge(SC445) is to choose a sketch from all the past sketches.  I chose sketch(SC428).
I combined the sketch with today's Way To Use it Challenge(WT436).    It is all about chevrons.  For the sketch, I chose to cut out the background shape and actually layer with the negative space.  Before I did that, though, I added my vintage cream chevrons and embossed the outside frame.  I am using ODBD  Be Joyful and Sisters single stamps.  I embossed the focal image and used Memento grape ink on the sentiment.  I did add a bow to the card topped with a prima flower.

As always thanks so much for stopping by!

Happy Birthday! MIM and Retro!

Happy Wednesday!  I spent some time in my crafty space cleaning yesterday.  Once it was almost all clean, inspiration hit.   I have a card to share today, but my crafty space now needs cleaning again.

I decided to play along with this week's Papertrey's Make It Monday.  This week is about Defined Watercolors.  I did the technique on the stamped  background panel.  I slightly modified how I did the
watercolor part.  I used the actual ink itself and wet it, then stamped it.  Next, I went back over the image with the ink on the outside edges for the defined portion of the watercolors part.  I am using this week's Retro Sketch Challenge for the card.  I am also playing along with Moxie Fab World: Birthday Creations and  A Passion for Papertrey's Birthday Challenge!

Memories and a Mojo!

I am playing along with this week's Mojo Monday Sketch301.   I did turn it on its side and do a vertical card.   I do not make sympathy cards unless I need one.  Not my favorite card to make for obvious reasons.  This card is for a coworker who lost her dad.  Hits close to home since I just recently lost my dad.  Definitely has tilted my world.   Trying to create a new normal.   Even after three months I still have a difficult time believing he is gone forever.

For this card I am using Verve's Deepest Sympathy Plain Jane and Forever in Our Hearts stamp sets.   I combined it with some muted toned Basicgrey papers I have had in my collection for awhile.  I  layered some flourished Spellbinder's dies behind Verve's Cut Above Classy Label die.  I stamped on the inside of this card one of the sentiments from the Forever in Our Hearts set, but I totally zoned and wrote and signed the inside before I took a picture.  I ink distressed, sewing machine stitched, and added flourished pearls.   I finished with a Verve's Signature Ribbon Collection bow in Cream.  I topped it with a pale aqua flower and added a pearl center.

Color Throwdown 5th Anniversary Celebration!

Happy Wednesday!  The Color Throwdown Challenge is Celebrating its 5 Year Anniversary!  I am helping them celebrate because I was a Guest Designer for the challenge a couple of years ago.  Check out The Color Throwdown blog for a list of prizes and how you can play along for a chance to win as well as a list of other participating Alumni and Guest Designers!

For my card I am using Verve's Hundred Hearts stamp set along with Verve's Cut Above Flag It and Heart die sets.  I am using some MME designer papers which works perfectly for these colors.    I used one of the Flag It dies for the tabs on either side of the sentiment.  I also used another Flag It die on the top left corner wrapped around for a corner detail.  I finished my card with Verve's Spring Fling Ribbon Collection in Sunshine.  I am using Deconstructed Sketch 108.

Sending You Just a Little Something!

Happy Tuesday!  I had a few moments in my crafty space so I thought I would play along with A Passion for Papertrey  Inspiration Challenge this week.  I saw this photo on Pinterest and immediately thought the wooden box with flowers was perfect for a card.

I thought PTI Cutting Garden and dies would work for this card.  I also used Big Bold Wishes and Wood Grain background stamp sets.  For the flowers, I thought the different colors of leaves and white flowers would look realistic stamped onto varying shades of green card stocks.   Greens for the leaves and vintage cream on greens for the flowers.  Just like in the picture I did add a few lavender moon colored flowers.  I think the wooden flower box  on my card is truly stuffed, but I thought it worked for the inspiration picture.  I added some twine which is visible in photo as well.   I finished my card with some ink and paper distressing.

Do Justly! Crazy 4 Challenges

Happy Saturday!   It is time for another Crazy 4 Challenge with the Crazies!   Check out the C4C blog for more challenge details at Crazy 4 Challenges(C4C193).

This week's challenge is all about
sentiments as the focal point!

For my card I am using Verve's Let It Be
stamp set.  I finished my card with Verve's Truly Madly Deeply Ribbon Collection in strawberry cream.

I decided to keep the card really simple and just let this wonderful scripture take center stage.  I even chose paper patterns that were not too busy.  I added some stitching, pearls, seam binding bow topped with paper rose flower, and some soft sponging to finish the card.

Check out what the rest of the team did with this week's challenge!
