July 2013 Papertrey Ink Blog Hop!

 Blog-hop-logo

Happy Thursday!  I am playing along with Papertrey Ink's monthly blog hop today!  This month's challenge is all about Color Inspiration!

Fruits-of-Summer-2

Pencil Pouch!  I chose the inspiration colors to the right for my card.  I tried to venture outside of my normal flowery cards to do something a little different.  In about  a month it will be time for school again.  After seeing that new jumbo Mat Stack 7 die, I just knew it would make the cutest chubby pencils.  Then, after I assembled the card, I realized this chubby pencil was big enough to make a pencil pouch.  I chose to add a sentiment panel, but a gift card or even a treat or two could easily slide into the pouch.

I used the the largest Mat Stack #7 die and cut out rustic white, summer sunrise, melon berry, and new leaf card stocks.  I cut the rustic white all the way across the "V" center.  I then inked up the pencil tip using the Background:  Woodgrain stamp and inked with harvest gold.  I added a smudge of black ink for a graphite point using the tip of my Memento dew drop in Expresso Truffle.  For the jagged sharpened pencil barrel I used the 1 3/4" pinking edge circle.

My pencil inspiration came from Ticonderoga Pencils.  I have always loved these pencils so the green band at the top was perfect.  I did opt for a little dimension so I used the grid image from Background Basics: Geometric stamped in New Leaf on New Leaf.  For the eraser, the melon berry was the perfect eraser color.  I did enhance the depth a bit with some more melon berry ink sponged on the edges.  All the pieces were ink distressed just a bit with some Rangers Brushed Corduroy.  I just love the chubby pencil look.  The fact that it can be a pencil pouch makes it even better!
