For My Sweet Friend!

Happy Thursday!  WOW!  The week is almost over.   I thought I would pop in with a quick card.  I am playing along with a few SCS Challenges as well as ODBD Shining the Light Challenge.

For ODBD Shining the Light Challenge(ODBDSLC162), we are to use white/cream and one other color.  I chose Royal Velvet.  It is a deep rich purple.  I combined this challenge with a few SCS Challenges.  This week's Sketch Challenge(SC445) is to choose a sketch from all the past sketches.  I chose sketch(SC428).
I combined the sketch with today's Way To Use it Challenge(WT436).    It is all about chevrons.  For the sketch, I chose to cut out the background shape and actually layer with the negative space.  Before I did that, though, I added my vintage cream chevrons and embossed the outside frame.  I am using ODBD  Be Joyful and Sisters single stamps.  I embossed the focal image and used Memento grape ink on the sentiment.  I did add a bow to the card topped with a prima flower.

As always thanks so much for stopping by!

Supreme Faith!

Happy Wednesday!  I have a card to share today using some ODBD stamps.  I am playing along with this week's Shining the Light Challenge(ODBDSLC159).  This week is a sketch.  I finally ordered me some paper pads.  First all year. I was so excited that I just had to dig in and create a card using this fun sketch.

I am using ODBD Quote Collection 3 and Time sets. I mixed some fun Spellbinder's dies and ink distressed the edges, added some machine stitching and a seam binding bow.

As always thanks so much for stopping by!

Two Roads Diverged! Shining the Light, Announcements, and MORE!

Happy Sunday!  I had a little time to spend in my crafty space today which is quite rare lately during the weekends.  My dd is home from university so we had a Twilight Marathon Weekend!  We literally watched all 5 movies back to back.  I must admit there were a few snooze moments on my part.   I think the kids have a couple of dozing pictures of me.   Anyway, after what seems like a long time sitting and watching, I was ready to get crafty.

I made a card using ODBD Quote Collection 1 stamp set.
I kept my card some what simple. I am using the sketch from this week's Shining the Light Challenge145.

For my card I am using some MME designer papers.  I stitched the panels and added a die cut frame and the sentiment to the center.  I finished with seam binding bow and resin flower.

A few announcements!

As always thanks so much for stopping by!

ODBD Shining the Light Challenge, DP by ME, and MORE!

Happy Thursday!  I finally got a chance to play in my craft room this afternoon.  I have been busy this week doing some fall cleaning.  My card today is for this week's ODBD Shining the Light Challenge(ODBDSLC123).  We are to stamp our background with either a background stamp or use one stamp repeatedly.  I chose to do both for my background design.

I am using ODBD newly released Scripture Series 3 stamp set along with God's Love, God's Hands, and Randi's Song.

I combined some kraft, ivory, and wisteria card stocks.  I stamped using a fine linen ink the grunge butterfly image from God's Love all over the back.  This shade gave a more tonal look on the kraft and is hard to capture on camera.  I also stamped the wisteria with some lavender Memento ink, but ended up covering up most of that panel with an ivory panel stamped in the same linen ink.  This panel shows a little better, but the other elements on the card sort of cover it up, too.  LOL!  Trust me when I say all panels were stamped.  The wisteria fishtail was stamped with the script stamp from Randi's song with lavender ink.  Again, since it is so tonal hard to capture on camera, but all looks great in real life.

I am using Deconstructed Sketch No. 69. I layered the focal image with the God's Hand image stamped in  linen onto ivory.  I then stamped the scripture over with Memento black.  I ink distressed all the panels, added some stitching, a coffee dyed seam binding bow, button, and two corsage pins to finish the card.

As always thanks so much for stopping by!

Sun & Shield, C4C, and ODBDSLC!

Happy Saturday, everyone!  It is time for another challenge with the crazies at Crazy 4 Challenges(C4C149).   Silke is the hostess for August.     This week she is challenging us to an all white card.  Only white except for the focal image.  That you can color or use a colorful ink.

For my card I am using ODBD Scripture Collection 6 I combined the scripture with some fun pearl bead work, white 3/8" grograin ribbon, clear crystal pins, and embossing folder.  The scripture was stamped with Memento Grape Jelly ink.  With all of the white it feels CAS to me.  Not sure since there are layers, though.

I am also playing along with ODBD Shining the Light Challenge ODBDSLC118.  this week.  We are to use a scripture on our cards.

Check out what the rest of the team did with this week's challenge!

As always thanks so much for stopping by!

ODBD Shining the Light Sketch and a Sneak Peek!

Happy Tuesday!  I have two cards to share with you today!  The first card is for Week 2 of ODBD Shining the Light Challenge.  It's a sketch!

I was in a purple mood!  Can you tell?  I am using ODBD Fancy Labels, Quote Collection 1 , and 2 Step Butterfly  stamp sets.  I combined Spellbinders Fancy Labels 17 die and  ODBD Custom Grunge Butterfly die.

I stitched the background patterns, stamped the fancy frame, used the stamp a ma jig to line up perfectly the Helen Keller quote, and stamped with purple staz on the vellum layered butterfly, and topped it all off with a seam binding bow with a jumbo button with gold accenting.  I think this was one of the quickest cards I have ever made.

For my second card to share with you today, I am using some of the new SU In Colors. This card is for today's SCS Color Combo Challenge (CC386) "A Primrose Summer Breeze!" Check out the link to see what the dessert option is!

I am sneak peeking a new set from ODBD called Bookmarks-Prayers that have a custom Spellbinder's die set. I used two of the dies here. One for the actual bookmark and another of the bookmark dies as a cool slider clip to house a bookmark for easy slide in slide out bookmark gift giving. I used some embroidery floss to make the tassel for the bookmark. I added some hardware for a fun accent to the slider holder look. The smaller picture is the bookmark out of the slider.

Happy Moments!

I have a card to share today!  This card is for two challenges.  I am sampling along with the SCSCCDT for this week's SCS Color Combo Challenge (CC380).  Mary is the host.  She has challenged us to use  Tangerine Tango, Always Artichoke, and Chocolate Chip.  Check out the link to play along and to find out what the dessert option is.

This card is also for this week's ODBD Shining the Light Challenge.  The theme this week is all about Summer.  I really thought this scene from ODBD As You Graduate stamp set would be a perfect back drop representative of Summertime.  I combined it with the newly released Thank God stamp set.   Love this sentiment.

For my card, I combined  some Spellbinder's dies.  One I used as a border. I have been trying to find more ways to play with my dies and get different looks.  Can you guess which die I used for the border?   For the color challenge, I searched through my stash of papers and ended up using a piece from a Basic Grey dp pack from a couple of years ago.   It has hues of chocolate, black, ivory, and artichoke in this pattern.  I then added for the border one piece of some MME that looked close enough to Tangerine Tango.   I did have to use some ink distressed vintage corrugated paper from a set of dishes I purchased. Love this stuff.  It is soft and not as stiff as true corrugated cardboard.  I love adding this element for a bit of texture.  All in all I kept this card pretty clean and simple for me.  Finished with a seam binding bow and three gold pearls.  Oh, I did pop up the focal panel for added dimension.  These colors definitely work for a masculine card.  Just another way to do a guy card.  They can be manly elegance?  Guy cards do not always have to be playful or rustic.

Beauty of Dreams and a Quick Tip!

Happy Friday!  I have a card to share with you today using the newly release set from ODBD called Dreams.  I am playing along with the ODBD Shining the Light Challenge ODBDSLC108 which is an inspiration challenge.  Still time to play along.

For my card I am using the sketch from Cardabilities #55.  I decided to go a bit vintage with this card.  I combined one of my favorite Prima paper pads.

For this card I decided to use some aida cloth. I die cut  two leafy stems with a sizzix die I have had for awhile.  I mounted the very fragile cut piece to some lightweight kraft card stock.  I then stitched the leaves a bit for added effect as well as to make sure it stayed attached to the card stock.  I ink distressed everything, stitched the edges, and added some colorful flower assortment, seam binding bow, and a few memory thread curly ques tucked in to further emphasize the floral arrangement in the inspiration piece.   Love how it turned out.  What do you think?  Ever use real aida cloth like this?

Quick Tip:
The focal image quote was cut with a pinking shears die cut four times for each edge.  To give a more distressed quality as well as to make it look more like a fabric swatch I used a really OLD cutting plate with the paper side to show face down on the cut up plate so the little cut marks would show.  I inked up to make them stand out even more.  So....for added distressing do not throw out those cut marked plates.  Thought I would share!

Perfect Peace

Happy Saturday!  I have a card to share with you today using the challenge for ODBD Shining the Light (ODBDSLC100)!  Today at ODBD we are officially kicking off the 4th Anniversary Celebrations going on all week!  Check out this link for a schedule of events!  For today's challenge we are focusing on 4th Anniversary themes.  The colors are aqua or blue topaz with an added scripture.  Check out the link to find out how to play along and have a chance to win!

For my card, I am tried to focus on mostly hues of aquas. Of course, a few hues of blues were in my MME dp.      My scripture if from Scripture Collection 7 and I also use the butterfly image from the Faith set stamped ever so subtle behind the scripture.   I framed the scripture with a Spellbinder's die.  I added a seam binding bow topped with an aqua button and finished with a few silver pearls.

As always, thanks so much for stopping by!

LOVE, Shining the Light and MORE!

Happy Sunday!  I have a card to share today using one of ODBD January release sets called God's Love.  I am playing along with ODBD Shining the Light Love Recipe Challenge. to make a card using the word LOVE, a heart or both along with the colors red and white, pink and white, or red, white, and pink.  I think I accomplished them all.  I combined the scripture with the ornate LOVE with some Echo Parks Truly Yours designer papers.   I slightly inked distressed the edges.  I used the stamp a ma jig to perfectly place the scripture on the top portion of the circle die.  I layered my scripture with the Spellbinder's Heart Circles die.   I finished with a seam binding bow and a little circle tag with a cut out heart.

Confidence and Assurance! SLCODBD73 and MORE!

Happy Saturday!  I am in Virginia this weekend visiting my sister.  We have had a blast shopping.  My mom and dad road up with me.  It seems all we have done is go go go!  Fun times!   Before I left I was able to make a couple of cards.  I was not able to post those cards before I left, though so here goes one of them.

This card is for today's Shining the Light Challenge(SLCODBD73)!   It is a sketch!  I decided to make this card pretty clean and simple.  I am using ODBD Scripture Collection 7.  I got some new My Mind's Eye paper pads in the mail this week and just had to cut them.  This one uses Market Square.  I just love the pretty coral papers I used here.  I ink distressed the edges.  I sewing machine stitched all the layers.  I layered a few Spellbinders and finished with a cream seam binding bow, pearl gold button, and a couple of pearls.

As always thank so much for stopping by!

Stamptacular Sunday Challenge, CTD, ODBDSLC, and MORE!

It is time for another Stamptacular Sunday Challenge!   "Who says three's a crowd?"  This week we are using three designer papers, three ribbons, and three flowers!                                                                          I am using the sketch for ODBD Shining the Light Challenge(ODBDSLC44)!  I just love sketches.  I also love color combos.  With these two in your hands your card is half done.   I  am using the colors from this week's Color Throwdown 125.  A trio of pear pizzazz, blushing bride, and kraft.  I added expresso as my neutral.   For my card I am using ODBD The Lord Has Risen stamp sets.    I am happy dancing at my latest Mike's find.  While perusing the many isles in Mikes that I forget to check out because I hang out in the paper crafting section mostly, I came across a marked down bag of long stemmed roses in three colors.  Hmmm.  Got me to thinking you know.

I thought as many times as I have added little roses to my card how about some long stremmed ones.  And, if that was not enough the stems are covered and I can make curly ques!  Don't you just love it when something like that comes together for you in unknown kind of ways.  Brace yourself because you will see this one again!  I chose three of the faintest pink roses from the pack.  I curly qued the stems.  I tied together with some natural May Arts twine.  I then added my pink floss bow to the top and adhered my arrangement to the top of my ribbon bow.   I really love how it turned out.

I was not able to make a card for last week's SSC challenge because my sister and I were working on and carrying out our mom and dad's 50th Wedding Anniversary Party!  Here is a picture I snapped of the two of them.  Aren't they just too cute?

Happy 50th Anniversary, Mom and Dad!

On Sunday my son started running a fever of 102.    After a trip to the docs on Monday came back with negative strepp...and something viral.  I pushed the fluids and fever reducers for a few days. Still running fever on Wednesday so headed back to the docs.  He tested positive for the flu!  Oh, JOY!  Since I was around him all week, I woke to a temp on Friday and feeling like someone drug me behind a truck.  Luckily I already had today's card sample made.   It is late Saturday evening and I am feeling a bit better.  No high fever today...just a lowgrade one.   Hopefully, I will be back to my normal self by Monday!

I have entered my card in  few more challenges.
Belli Challenge:  Letter P!  Pattern Paper, pearls, pink, pear pizzazz
