Kind Words!

Happy Saturday!  I have a Verve card to share with you today.  I am using this week's Mojo234 sketch.   I guess I should say I tried to follow the sketch.  I am not sure what it is with me and sketches, but try as I might I have the most difficult time following them to be sure.  I literally see the sketch and interpret it different or something.  When I finish and take a look at the sketch, I go "huh"?   There have been times when I miss a whole panel and have to go back and add it back in.  I guess when the right side of the brain wants to make a card the left just needs to step aside.  Anyway, this is truly my take on the sketch.  Do I hear sirens?  Sketch police?  LOL!

For my card today I am using Verve's Thinking of You and Bloom and Grow stamp sets.    I also combined Verve's Cut Above All Aflutter and Flutterby dies.  The small leafy stem from Bloom and Grow was used to stamp touches in tonal hues around focal image for some added dimension.  Very subtle, but I love the finished look.

I am out of town in Charlotte, NC for my son's Odyssey of the Mind team's state competition.  Woo Hoo!  Go Team! We are all so very proud of all of them.

As always thanks so much for stopping by!

For my card I am using ODBD  The Lord Has Risen stamp set.   I stamped the flowers in Memento tuxedo black ink, colored with copics, and cut out.  I cut out an extra set of flowers and rounded with stylus.  I added a yellow gem to the centers and popped them on top of the cut out for added floral dimension.   For the background I used a new Spellbinder's Impressions folder.  I ink distressed the edges   I  layered a Fleur de Lis Motif and Circle Spellbinder's dies.  I stamped the sentiment in the center using Memento grape ink.  I sponged inside the frame with some Ranger Antique Linen.   I added a seam binding bow topped with a gold framed pearlized button.   For the pennant flag,   I die cut the pennant flag from Spellbinder's Lacey Nested Pennants and stamped the scripture using the stamp a ma jig to position the scripture perfectly.  I ink distressed the edges.  I used a corsage pin.  I wrapped some Scor-tape around the top and slightly wrapped the Spellbinder's pennant tag around.  I love how this created a finishing touch to my card.

Dream a New Dream!

Happy Sunday!  I have a Verve card to share with you today.   I had a few moments in my craft room today to to create a card that is somewhat simple.  I also believe it could work for a guy as well.

I am using Verve's Words of Wisdom and Happy Days stamp sets.  Remember when I mentioned that this card was "somewhat" simple. Well, the focal image has a stamped background of the words Amazing, Awesome, and Cool that come in the set Happy Days.  I  stamped alternating the three words in colors of Enchanted Evening stamped off, Mememto New Sprout, and Berry Sorbet.  I love how it mimics the alphabet background that came in my new paper pack my Memory Keepers Anthologie.  Love!

I finished with a few buttons for accents!  Look!  No bow!

As always thanks so much for stopping by!

Think Spring! Viva la Verve and MORE!

Happy Tuesday!  I have a Verve card to share with you today using this week's Viva La Verve Sketch Week 3.  Maureen is the host this week.  Awesome sketch, Moe!

For my card I am using Verve's Chicks Rule, Lucky Duck, Egg-stra Special stamp set.  I am also using Verve's Cut Above Classy Label die.   I rarely do cutes cards.    However,  with all the warm weather we are having here in North Carolina, I was feeling like "thinking Spring!"  And, no one could help me think spring like the cute chick and ducky from Verve!   I enjoyed coloring and cutting out the chick and ducky and popping them in this basket.  I also loved mixing it up with 5 different MME patterns of dp.  A bit different from what I normally do, but cute is a good thing!

As always, thanks so much for stopping by!

ODBD 4th Anniversary Release Blog Hop!

Welcome to ODBD 4th Anniversary Release Blog Hop!  If you got here from Julie's blog you are in the right place, if not we recommend you start at the ODBD blog so you don’t miss anyone.

The Hop will run 8am EDT Mar. 17 until 8pm EDT Mar 18.
The winners will be announced on the ODBD Blog on Mar 19.

Four hoppers will win a FREE ANNIVERSARY SET and
One blessed hopper will win
The Complete Anniversary Bread Basket Bundle!!!
Check out the ODBD Blog for details on how you can win!

For the 4th Anniversary Release this year, I chose a quote.  This quote is part of the  ODBD Quote Collection 1 stamp sets. One of my favorite inspirational speakers/preachers is Joyce Meyer.   This quote really says it all when it comes to worry.  Worry is a useless action and a waste of time.  This quote reminds me to turn to God at all times and in all things.  Exercising my faith is a more worthy endeavor than senseless worrying.   I combined some older My Mind's Eye dp with some newer patterns.  Sort of mixing it up a bit.  I am also using a new 2012 Spellbinder's!  I also tucked in the background a new 2012 Impressabilities folder by Spellbinders!  Love these!  I thought the new frame looked great with one of my EK Success border punches.  I finished with a few prima flowers, seam binding bow and a few tiny gold pearls.

As always thanks so much for hopping by!

ODBD For the Love of Backgrounds HOP!

Welcome to Our Daily Bread Design's  Alumni Team's bi-monthly For the Love Blog Hop.  This week the Alumni team along with some of the ODBD designers are featuring a hop for the Love of ODBD Backgrounds!  If you get lost along the way, go to ODBD Blog for the full link list.  One of the post is a hot spot and a name will be drawn from that list of comments to win a $15 ODBD store gift certificate.  So, all you have to do is hop along and see all the creations and leave a little love!  So, get hopping and enjoy all the inspiration using for the Love of ODBD Backgrounds!   If you got here from Silke's blog you are in the right spot.

For my card I am using ODBD Vintage Border Background stanp and Scripture Collection 7. I stamped the background in Memento tuxedo black ink onto kraft cardstock.  I ink distressed the edges and use a brown copic marker to color inside the open spaces of the background for some added dimension.  I  layered a Labels 20 Spellbinder's die.  I sponged inside the frame with some Ranger Vintage Photo.  I used the stamp a ma jig to position the scripture perfectly.  I added a seam binding bow topped with a pink paper flower and green leaves clipped from another flower stem.  I finished with a few tiny gold pearls.   I love the added depth and dimension the background gives without competing with the focal scripture.

I've Been Thinking about You!

Happy Tuesday!  I have a card to share with you today using Week 2  of the Viva La Verve Sketch.  This week's host is Charmaine!  Love this sketch,Charmaine!  I decided to keep this one fairly simple.  I am using Verve's Blue Skies and Small Phrases stamp sets along with Verve's Cut Above All Aflutter and Charming Banner die sets.

I was fortunate recently when Joanne and Peggy came to my rescue with a paper emergency (wink; wink;).  I really wanted to try some of this Everyday Elegance designer paper from SU.  Well,  both ladies sent me some in the mail.  WooHoo!  Aren't they so sweet!  I wanted to give them both a little shout out here!  This is the first card I have posted using it.  I decided to go mostly poppy on this one, too.  Lots of possibilities with these colors!  Anyway, thanks so much Joanne and Peggy!

As always thanks so much for stopping by!

Perfect Peace

Happy Saturday!  I have a card to share with you today using the challenge for ODBD Shining the Light (ODBDSLC100)!  Today at ODBD we are officially kicking off the 4th Anniversary Celebrations going on all week!  Check out this link for a schedule of events!  For today's challenge we are focusing on 4th Anniversary themes.  The colors are aqua or blue topaz with an added scripture.  Check out the link to find out how to play along and have a chance to win!

For my card, I am tried to focus on mostly hues of aquas. Of course, a few hues of blues were in my MME dp.      My scripture if from Scripture Collection 7 and I also use the butterfly image from the Faith set stamped ever so subtle behind the scripture.   I framed the scripture with a Spellbinder's die.  I added a seam binding bow topped with an aqua button and finished with a few silver pearls.

As always, thanks so much for stopping by!

Happy Monday!  I am here with a card to share today using this week's VLV March Week 1 sketch!  Amber is the host!  Love this sketch, Amber.  I chose to do a horizontal A2 for my card using the sketch on its side.   I am using Verve's Love's Flower, Feel the  SunHappy Days, and New Mercies stamp sets.  I stamped the big Love's Flower three times and paper pieced.  I stamped off the leafy image from New Mercies to stamp behind the sentiment for add dimension.  The sentiment is what I like to call a sentiment builder.  It required three different stamps to get the complete sentiment.  I tried to vintage it up a bit with some ink.  These colors are bold and bright.  Love how it turned out.

As always thanks so much for stopping by!  Next on the hop is Jackie's Blog.

Flourishes Bring Back Beautiful BBB20

Happy Monday, everyone!  We are here to Bring Back Beautiful (BBB20)  for March!  Paper crafting has brought the world closer.   With global reaches, we need to celebrate seasons on a global scale.  This month is all about the Beauty of Autumn or Spring depending on where you live.   Create a card or project that showcases the season of your region!

For my card I am using Flourishes
Lily of Hope stamp set.  I decided to go sort of CAS again today.  I say sort of because when you get right down to it the card looks fairly simple, but there are a few steps to get to simplicity.

I  stamped the lily onto  Flourishes Classic Ivory card stock using a raspberry and artichoke ink.  The flower is designed with such detail that I think it looks absolutely beautiful just outlined in colored.  I stamped the sentiment over top with some Memento Tuxedo black.  I finished with a seam binding bow, pearlize gold button, and three gold metallic pearls.    I am using the sketch from Card Patterns155.

Check out what the rest of the team created with the
Beauty of Autumn or Spring theme!

I have a couple of projects to share with you today.  My card combines the newly release Faithful Friend with
Flourishes Verses stamp sets.  I decided to go CAS with this design.  I die cut Spellbinder's Fancy Tags One.  I die cut and used the stamp a ma jig to place the sentiment and flourish designs into the center of the tags.  Aside from the textured background, the only embellishment are two pearls.  I did used some foam tape to pop up the tags for added dimension.  The center sentiment tag is popped up on a double layer of foam tape to make it a little bit higher.  I love how it turned out.  Always a fun go to and easy sketch.

For my second project, I decided with so many sets this release focusing on friendship, it would be fun to have a quick little gift to give or something cute to make for myself.  I decided to make key chains or key tags for this project.  I started out with Faithful Friends and Flourishes Verses sets.  I die cut ODBD tag die with coasters.  Each key tag uses three coasters glued together for added support.    I made a collage on one side using some other ODBD images.  I added the Glossy Accents and let dry.  I then stamped the images for the other side, added the glossy accents and let dry.  Once they are dried all three pieces can be glued together.  I stamped on both sides, however, I think it would be nice to have a handwritten note signed as well.  Lots of options and fun to do.  I added the little hinge closure and key and the project was done.  I am thinking with the three layers and glossy accents this key tag should be pretty durable.  If you choose to only use it for all the grocery store discount tags, then it still makes for a cute friendship gift or personal key tag.  I am going to use this one.  I really love the size and the fact that it does not make lots of clingy clangy(word?) noise.

As always thanks so much for stopping by!  From here, hop on over to the ODBD  BLOG to answer the question and comment for your chance to win!
