The Impossible! From Tag to Card, C4C143, and MORE!

Happy Saturday, everyone!  It is time for another challenge with the crazies at Crazy 4 Challenges(C4C143).   Silke Kittmann is back with her last challenge for June.  It is a simple one!  Just make a TAG!

I decided to make a tag that could be easily added to the front of a card.  For my tag(second picture) I used the largest die from Spellbinder's Label 23.  I love that it can easily be converted from a frame to a tag.  The picture makes the card and tag look the same size, but it is not.Once I finished it, I decided to go ahead and add it to a card.  I may need to do this more.  Create these little tags and just pop them on a card in a crunch or tie them to a gift bag. I am playing along with ODBD Shining the Light Challenge (ODBDSLC114).  Anything Goes!

I am sneak peeking today a new set to release tomorrow, July 1st,  from ODBD called Flowering Faith.

Just a quick reminder that ODBD is having HUGE SALE going on now!  Check out the links below.

Happy Birthday!

Happy Wednesday!  I have a card to share with you today using some new fun designer papers that I got in the mail last week.  I just love all the fun summery patterns and colors.

I need a Birthday card and used ODBD Mini Tag 3 stamp set for a semi quick card.   I combined the fun patterns, did some stitching and distressing, added a seam binding bow,  and used one of  sentiments with a hanging tag.   I am using a sketch from Deconstructed Sketch #57.

Life doesn't have to be perfect! Quote, C4C142!

Happy Saturday, everyone!  It is time for another challenge with the crazies at Crazy 4 Challenges(C4C142).   Silke Kittmann is back with another challenge for us all and this week.  It is a sketch!

For my card, I am using Verve's Words of Wisdom, Relax, Love Story, and Thankful Accents stamp sets.  I am also using Verve's Cut Above Love Birds die set.

I am using some new designer papers I got called Beautiful Moments by  Carta Bella.  For the focal image I stamped the quote then lightly stamped the word "RELAX" all over for a soft subtle wording background.  Then, I stamped the circle frame from Thankful Accents in Memento pink for a light touch frame accent.  I added the stamped dove and die cut, a couple of buttons, and a coordinated seam binding bow.

ODBD For the Love of Good Stewards Hop !

For the Love of  Good
Stewards Hop

Welcome to Our Daily Bread Design's Alumni Team's bi-monthly For the Love Blog Hop.  This week the Alumni team along with some of the ODBD designers are featuring a hop For the Love of ODBD Good Steward sets! Check out each link and leave a comment. If you get lost along the way, check the ODBD blog for full list of links.  One of the post is a hop hot spot and a name will be drawn from that list of comments to win a $15 ODBD store gift certificate.  So, all you have to do is hop along and see all the creations and leave a little love!  You have until Wednesday, July 4th at 6 pm.   Enjoy all the awesome inspiration using For the Love of ODBD Good Steward sets!

I am first on the hop so if you got here from ODBD Blog you are in the right spot!

For my card I am using ODBD Never Give Up and Grunge Cross stamp sets.   I also used ODBD Custom Grunge Cross die.   I combined some MME designer papers  with some cork to make a fun textured background to go with the Grunge Cross.    I also found a cool Basic Grey brad in my stash of embellies that looks like the word GOD is spelled across the front so I thought it worked perfectly for the cross center. I added a few foam circles and popped the cross up a bit.

The sentiment is a quote from the Never Give Up set.  I love the quotes in this set and the scripture is one of my favorites.  All further emphasize to keep on keeping on.   I finished my card with a seam binding bow.

As always thanks so much for stopping by!   Next on the hop is Connie's Blog.

Happy Moments!

I have a card to share today!  This card is for two challenges.  I am sampling along with the SCSCCDT for this week's SCS Color Combo Challenge (CC380).  Mary is the host.  She has challenged us to use  Tangerine Tango, Always Artichoke, and Chocolate Chip.  Check out the link to play along and to find out what the dessert option is.

This card is also for this week's ODBD Shining the Light Challenge.  The theme this week is all about Summer.  I really thought this scene from ODBD As You Graduate stamp set would be a perfect back drop representative of Summertime.  I combined it with the newly released Thank God stamp set.   Love this sentiment.

For my card, I combined  some Spellbinder's dies.  One I used as a border. I have been trying to find more ways to play with my dies and get different looks.  Can you guess which die I used for the border?   For the color challenge, I searched through my stash of papers and ended up using a piece from a Basic Grey dp pack from a couple of years ago.   It has hues of chocolate, black, ivory, and artichoke in this pattern.  I then added for the border one piece of some MME that looked close enough to Tangerine Tango.   I did have to use some ink distressed vintage corrugated paper from a set of dishes I purchased. Love this stuff.  It is soft and not as stiff as true corrugated cardboard.  I love adding this element for a bit of texture.  All in all I kept this card pretty clean and simple for me.  Finished with a seam binding bow and three gold pearls.  Oh, I did pop up the focal panel for added dimension.  These colors definitely work for a masculine card.  Just another way to do a guy card.  They can be manly elegance?  Guy cards do not always have to be playful or rustic.

As always thanks so much for stopping by!

Let your Light Shine and You're the Best: A two card Monday plus a Quick Tip!

Happy Monday!  I had some time in my crafty space the past couple of days to make a few cards.  Today I have TWO!  Amazing that!  WooHoo!  The first card uses VLV June Week 2 Sketch by Tosh!  I knew when I saw this one I just had to jump in when I got a chance.  I just love layering.  Great sketch!

For this card I am using Verve's Let Your Light Shine stamp set.   I played around with some more corrugated cardboard, a silver doily, and some glitter!  Love the tonal effect with all the textures and patterns.

The second card is supposed to be CAS.  I am using Janelle's VLV June Week 3 Sketch which is CAS!  I must tell you now that when I started the card it was CAS....then (*signing* here) the crafting muses took over and I looked at the card when they were done and went, huh?  ;)  That is my story and I am sticking to it.  CAS or no I could not rip it apart and start over. LOL!  Great sketch, Janelle!  I do apologize for torturing the CAS out of it!

For this card I used Verve's Text Objects for a soft kraft on kraft scripty background touch,   I used Seeing Stars for the focal sentiment and a few stars.  I also combined sentiments or images from Dude and Super Dad.    I used Verve's Cut Above Ribbon Banner die for the focal image sentiment.  I cut two...one in vintage cream and the other in kraft for a touch of layer at the tip of the ribbon banner.

Quick Tip!

Lately, I have been playing around with textures from fabrics, metals, plastics, and cardboard.  A few weeks ago I posted a card using some Aida Cloth.    When I made this card, I wanted to add some textures so I decided to use the Aida Cloth again which gets sort of flimsy and frayed when die cut.  A good thing, but it needs a card stock backing at times if the die cut is really dainty.  When I die cut these stars out, I put the aida cloth on top of the vintage cream when I ran it through my Vagabond.  The results was the embossed vintage cream card stock with the aida cloth texture.  LOVE IT!  What a fun surprise!  I decided to add two...one small and one large to these layered stars for more fun!  If you look at the close up picture, you can see the aida cloth on top with the aida cloth embossed one underneath sandwiched between corrugated bottom layer.  So cool!  Just had to share!  What items have you added to your die cut layers that created textured patterns?  Please share!

As always thanks so much for stopping by!

One Day at a Time, C4C141, New SU In Colors!

Happy Saturday, everyone!  It is time for another challenge with the crazies at Crazy 4 Challenges(C4C141).   Silke Kittmann is back with another challenge for us all and this week.  It is time to get cooking!  It is a recipe challenge

The recipe is to use
3 Papers, 3 Flowers, 3 Buttons, 3 Pearls

For my card, I am using Verve's Tag Time, Making a Statement, and newly released One Day Plain Jane stamp sets.  I am also using Verve's Cut Above Tagged Rectangle and Loopy Blooms dies. The loopy blooms die was used to make the layered ink distressed and scrunched newsprint flower perched on my bow.

For my three papers I combined some NEW SU In Color 2012/14 Raspberry Ripple!  While it is not purely pomegranate, it is close and the card stock is richer.  The designer papers are almost a dead ringer for PP to me, though.  Happy Dancing.   I combined two of  the designer series papers prints with some of SU newsprint.  I used this Life Style Craft's Trelis border die to create my background.  I saw a few cards using this technique via Pinterest this past week and thought it might work with this die.  I love how it turned out.

As always thanks so much for stopping by!

Kind Hearts and a Graduation Picture!

Happy Friday!  It has been a busy week at the Wright household.  Erica graduated from high school Saturday, June 9th.  We had a cookout in her honor on Sunday.  On Tuesday, she got her wisdom teeth extracted.  So, needless to say she has truly been on an emotional roller coaster this week.  Busy times for sure.  Things have finally started to settle down a bit.  I finally found a few moments in my crafty space to make a few cards to post within the next few days.

Erica Wright High School Graduation June 9, 2012

Here is a picture of our Erica!  Please forgive the quality of the shot.  So many people hugging, crying, screaming, and laughing around us. I tried to crop some of the white noise out so to speak.  Erica had been crying as well.  However, she was still grinning from ear to ear.   A wonderful day, but still truly an emotional one as well for ALL OF US! Look at all her honor cords and medallions!  We are so very proud of her.

Okay, back to the card.  Thanks for letting me share a bit of my life with you all!  For this card, I am using ODBD  Kind Hearts from the Blessings Collection and Bird Borders and Corners.   I think this card is pretty much a CAS style for me.  Playing along with ODBD Shining the Light Challenge (ODBDSLC111).  Something Old (paper), Something New(Spellbinder's 22 die), Something Gifted (pearls from my dd Erica...thanks baby girl), and something blue (paper/card stock).

I am using some Teresa Collins designer paper.  I wanted to go with an all navy look with just a pop of some ivory.  I layered some  Spellbinder's dies.  I stamped the image from  the Bird Borders and Corners with some sky ink and over stamped with some enchanted evening ink.  I ink distressed the edges and finished with some halfback pearls.  Love the clean and simple design.

As always thanks so much for stopping by!

Crazy 4 Challenges and A Card Patterns Guest!

Happy Saturday, everyone!  It is time for another challenge with the crazies at Crazy 4 Challenges(C4C140).   Silke K. is the challenge host this month.  For our week two challenge, she has asked us to add lots circles to our creations.   Anyway, it could not have been better timing. I won the guest hostess at Card Patterns for today a couple of weeks ago and the sketch for today has circles!  Win! Win!
I am the guest designer at Card Patterns 169 this week.  I am so thrilled as you all know I love sketches, but tend to torture them at times. I am proud to say that today I really stuck to the sketch.  I did find myself referring to it many times during the card making moments to ensure that things were placed as they should be. This is a new concept for me as I obviously usually work from memory which is why my cards end up barely resembling most sketches.  Who knew one should refer often to the sketch?

For today's card I needed a Birthday card for my dad.  He will be 74 on Monday.  I am using Verve's  Super Dad, Big Wish, and Just For You stamp sets.    I stamped the circle frame from the Just For You using Memento bahama ink.  I die cut with a Spellbinder's circle.  I ink distressed the edges.  I stamped with Memento black ink two sentiments in what I call Sentiment Building.  I added the line of stars that comes in Super Dad between in Memento new sprout for a pop of lime.  I am using Verve's Cut Above Ribbon Banner die.  I die cut the island indigo papers twice and the pattern papers twice.  I then cut down the edges on both the pattern papers to make a layer for the island indigo card stock.  To make the Ribbon Banner appear long, I used two.  One at the top and one at the bottom.  They are covered in the middle by the circle creating the illusion that it is one long piece.  Love the look and versatility of this die.

I stitched all the background elements, added some natural twine, and topped it with a simple threaded button in keeping with the sketch and a manly card.

As always thanks so much for stopping by!

For my card I am using ODBD Get Well stamp set.   I combined some MME designer papers and Spellbinder dies to create the main elements on the card.  I stamped the butterfly flourished image in a soft pink and went over with a quickie glue pen and glitter in colors of coral and yellow.  I love the effect.    For the scripture I used a stamp a ma jig to perfectly place.  I used some melon berry ink.    I ink distressed all the edges and sewing machine stitched the backgrounds.  I added a trio of tiny buttons in keeping with the sketch and finished with a simple seam binding bow.    I am using the sketch for this week's Card Patterns 168.

Flourishes Bring Back Beautiful BBB23!

Welcome to another month of Flourishes Bring Back Beautiful Challenge!  (BBB23)!  This month is all about The Beauty of a Rainbow!  Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet -- combine all and you have
the colors of the rainbow! For this challenge, show us how you can combine at least three of those hues to celebrate The Beauty of a Rainbow on your card or creation!  Remember, too, that while we spotlight three true beauties  winners per challenge, our FAVORITE entry this month will also be asked if they would like to join the team for the August Challenge!

For my card today I chosen to go all guy with the colors of the rainbow.   Muted earth tones in hues of golds, greens, blues, and a touch of red.  With Father's Day just around the corner, I am in need of a few cards.  I am using Flourishes Guiding Light stamp set.

I used Flourishes Classic Ivory card stockI used the lighthouse image stamped with Memento Tuxedo black.  I inked the main sentiment with some navy ink.  The Happy Father's Day was inked with Memento Rhubarb Stalk ink.  I ink disressed the edges with Ranger Brushed Corduroy ink.   I layered the focal image with a Spellbinder's die.  I added textured to it using one of the newly released Spellbinder's M Bossabilities folders for a more rugged distressed look around the edges since you cannot actually see the pattern itself.

I finished the card with some sewing machine stitches, paper distressing, and Linen Burlap  knot topped with an oxidized antique gold button crest from my stash for a more manly effect.

I use Ranger Ink Blending tool, replacement foam, and Ranger inks to slightly ink distress the edges of all my card  stock and designer papers.  I also use Scor tape as my main paper adhesive.  Love this stuff.

As always thanks so much for stopping by!  Make sure to check out all the other beautiful creations from the Bring Back Beautiful Designers!
