You're the Best! Crazy 4 Challenges!

Happy Saturday!   It is time for another Crazy 4 Challenge with the Crazies!   Check out the C4C blog for more challenge details with the crazies at Crazy 4 Challenges(C4C192).

This week's challenge is all about
HEXAGONS!

For my card I am using Verve's Better With You, Tag Time and Dude stamp sets.  I am also using Verve's Cut Above  Banner Bundle, Tagged Rectangle, and Rounded Scallop Frame die sets.

For my card I am using some Simple Stories designer papers for the all over hexagon background pattern as well as one scalloped hexagon shape cut from the cork pattern paper that comes in same paper pad.   I decided to make a rugged guy or "dude" card this week.    I die cut the tag, stamped the coordinating grid image with stamped off blue ink, then added a few distressed drink rings for added texture and ruggedness before I stamped the bold red DUDE stamp.  I added a smaller sentiment from the same set in black and ink distressed the edges.  I finished with some twine and metallic nailheads.   I am using this week's Mojo Monday Sketch.

Check out what the rest of the team did with this week's challenge!

As always thanks so much for stopping by!

June 2013 Papertrey Ink Blog Hop!

Gold Dipped Memories   I am playing along with this month's Papertrey Ink Blog Hop!  The theme this month is a "touch of gold."  I love die cut words and decided after seeing the gold tipped fingernails in the first photo that a touch of gold to a die cut word would be just perfect.   Gold Dipping die cut words was born!  Looks like my "memories" is just ever so slightly dipped into a vat of pure gold.  LOVE!

I used a Papertrey heart limitless layer die to cut out of a large circle die to create a frame.  I wanted another more subtle sentiment to go along with my gold dipped memories.  I inked the "thinking with you" in versa mark and clear embossed.  The embossing powder was in a few unwanted places, but I decided I liked it a bit distressed so left it.  Once I did that I wanted the clear stamped embossed sentiment to show up a bit better so I dabbed my finger into some snow white ink and rubbed all over the clear embossed sentiment.  LOVE LOVE how it turned out.  Clear emboss highlighting.  Will definitely do this look again with the clear embossing.

Tip:  I die cut the word memories and used a large post it note that I put to cover up just below the letter e's to keep it straight.  I embossed with the post it note still attached and carefully pulled off the word.  I then die cut another word and glued behind using a quickie glue pen. This allows it to not be so flimsy so it can sit across the cut out heart frame without sagging.

Hello There! MIM, CAS, and Retro!

I have a CAS card to share today!  I had a few moments to play in my crafty space.  I am using some PTI stamps and playing along with this week's Make it Monday.

Now, before you go screaming for the challenge police, I truly did follow the challenge rules.  This is my take on vellum colored flowers.  I am using the Sweet Life roses and dies.  I die cut the vellum flowers, and white card stock leaves. I two stepped stamped the trio of roses using berry sorbet and Memento Love Letter and Ta Da....my vellum flower is colored and detailed in two easy steps!  I played around with vellum leaves or white card stock leaves.  The white card stock leaves won.  Just looked more finished.  I did add a foam circle strategically placed to pop up the whole trio of flower die piece.  Cannot see it at all.

I stamped the red background with the larger of the houndstooth prints in red.  I stamped the berry sorbet panel in the musical score background using berry sorbet ink.  These panels also got a touch of snow white ink edge distressing.  As for the focal image,  I used one of the swirls stamps from Mini Blooms in Spring Moss stamped twice.  I also chose one of the sentiments from this set.  I rounded one corners for added detail as well as added a pinking edge border on the berry sorbet panel.  I am using this week's Retro Sketch #69.

Thank You! Crazy 4 Challenges!

Happy Saturday!   It is time for another Crazy 4 Challenge with the Crazies!   Check out the C4C blog for more challenge details with the crazies at Crazy 4 Challenges(C4C191).

This week's challenge is all about
the Swing or Flip Flop Fold!
(Check out Beate's Tutorial at SCS)

For my card I am using Verve's  Wings of LoveNew Mercies, Sweet Treats, and Words Cannot Express stamp sets.  I am also using Verve's Cut Above   Classy Label, Wavy Hearts, Embossed Oval, and Scalloped Trim Trio die sets.

For my card I am using some MME Oxford Lane designer papers.  For the closed panel focal point,  I  die cut the Classy Label frame and stamped with coordinating image from Sweet Treats in Memento Nautical Blue ink.  I then die cut the embossed oval and stamped the Thank You from the Sweet Treats set.  I also stamped off twice and stamped the heart sprig from same set above and below oval sentiment.

For the inside of the flip flop card opened flat, I die cut and stamped the two wavy hearts using New Mercies and Wings of Love in same ink.  These hearts had to be placed just so since the card must fold and the other side becomes the focal point when closed.  I added a die cut heart trim.

Embellishing this type of fold is tricky as the back becomes the flattened or opened focal point when it flips around.  I added a few silver pearls.  I did manage a Verve Spring Fling Ribbon Collection bow in Sunshine to coordinate with the papers.

I was so excited that I just had to dig in and create a card using this fun sketch.

I am using ODBD Quote Collection 3 and Time sets. I mixed some fun Spellbinder's dies and ink distressed the edges, added some machine stitching and a seam binding bow.

You Are Appreciated! Celebrating 100 Years of Tombow

In March of this year, Tombow kicked off its "100 Days of Tombow"program at the National Art Education Association Conference in Forth Worth, Texas. They promised to provide up to $10,000 of Tombow art products to the Council for Arts Education, a national nonprofit dedicated to promoting and supporting art education and quality art programs nationwide. They asked 100 different bloggers across America to share a project using Tombow's products. For every submission by a blogger, Tombow donates $100.00 worth of products to the Council for Arts Education.

I was contacted by Tombow products and asked to participate in this special program celebrating 100 years to show how crafters and bloggers use Tombow products.  Tombow sent me a few products to share my "Tombow Time."

I made a card using some of the products Tombow sent me.  First of all, I love love this Stamp Runner dot adhesive.  It is ergonomic.  Fits my hand and the hot pink color and size make it easy to find on my craft desk.  Also,  the adhesive has staying power.   Next, since this celebration is all about art education, I thought it would be fun to use the color pencils in a fun way.  I received Pale Tone 1.  I love the creamy texture and the smooth application.  However, I was blown away by how rich the pigment is.  I just scribbled colored back and forth using all the colors in the box onto a piece of true black card stock.  The colors are rich and vibrant even on a darker background.  Love that!  I then stamped my sentiment and heat embossed.  Even the heat did not fade the rich color.

I am using this week's Mojo Monday sketch.  I combined Verve's Teachers Count, Take Note, and So Fluttery stamp sets.  I also combined Verve's Cut Above Flutterby, Charming Banner, and Pennant Trim dies.   I combined all the alphabet images from Take Note onto one clear block and stamped onto the Limeade Ice card stock using Versa Mark.  I also used the number image from Teachers Count set to stamp a background on the Hawaiian Shores panel in Versa Mark.  I added my sentiment panel using Tombow adhesive.  I added a butterfly using So Fluttery and the matching die.  I just love this versatile butterfly set and die.  Lots of different looks and the perfect finishing touch.  I finished my card with a seam binding bow using Verve's Stormy Skies Ribbon Collection.  I used Deep Sea.

Grateful Heart!

Happy Sunday!  I finally have a chance to post my card for this week's PTI  Make It Monday.  I kept looking at this challenge and wondering if I could do it.   I found this overlapping ombre a real challenge.    Took me a few attempts to get the right stamps and colors that I thought looked okay.  For me I kept this card real simple since the color and stamping took a bit of time.  I do love the end result.....I think ;).

Birthday Blessings and a MOJO!

Happy Friday!  I have been out of school for 1 week today!  Yay!  Of course, that just means summer cleaning time.  I have spent quite a bit of time in my crafty space doing to cleaning and rearranging.   Once the spaced look okay, I just had to mess it up and get inky.  I have a card to share today using Verve stamps and this week Mojo Monday Sketch.  I need a fun teen girl birthday card for someone special.  Cannot say as she may see this post on Facebook.

For my card I am using some Echo Park papers.  I combined Verve's newly released On Occasion stamp set with Bountiful Backgrounds and  Purely Sentimental sets.  I am also using Verve's Cut Above Occasion Frame, Wavy Hearts, and Scalloped Trim Trio die sets.

I did a lot of edge distressing, sewing, and white embossing, along with some inked up edges and layering to create this fun Birthday card.   I finished with a bow using Verve's Spring Fling Ribbon Collection in Sunshine.  I did use some Ranger Antique Linen to ink distress the ribbon a bit.  Love that effect.

ODBD For the Love of Vintage!

Welcome to Our Daily Bread Design's Alumni feature of For the Love of Vintage.  This month the Alumni team will be sharing creations made with sets that focus on Vintage sets  While we are including the cards and sets used by the designers for their creations, I know the designers would appreciate if you would click on the links below to leave them a little love as well.

For my card I am using Our Daily Bread Designs, Vintage Border Background, Antique Label Designs, and Flourished Verses stamp sets.  I decided to keep it simple.  I could have focused more on a more vintage look with these vintage stamps, but I thought using vintage stamps for a less vintage look is possible with these stamps as well.

I am using the sketch from this week's JUGS Sketch Challenge #191.

As always thanks so much for stopping by!

I have a Graduation card to share today.  I think every neighbor, niece, and family friend's child graduated this year.     I am using Verve's Love Notes, Starstruck, Words of Wisdom, With Love, and Happy Graduation plain jane stamp sets.  I combined these stamps with Verve's Scalloped Trim Trio, Jotted Heart, and Starry dies.

I created a monochromatic card to use for a guys graduation.  I distressed the edges and added some corrugated cardboard for texture and to man it up a bit more since I did use polka dots and hounds tooth prints. I am using this week's MojoMonday sketch.

As always thanks so much for stopping by!  Jessica is next on the hop!
