Hello Everyone and welcome to the first Flourishes Beautiful World
Tour! Those of you who have been following Flourishes
will know that the first Monday of the month used to be the Bring Back
Beautiful Challenge. As we celebrate Flourishes' 5th Birthday, there
have been some changes and one of those is our team! No longer are we a
challenge team, instead with are the Flourishes Beautiful World Team! You get to travel the world with us and be inspired by
talented designers from all parts of the globe! We are now represented by
Australia, United States, Canada, Finland, England, and Germany. Each
month the team will create cards based on a theme. All you have to do is take a tour to each blog, leave a comment for a chance to WIN! One of the teams blogs will be a chosen vacation spot and one lucky person will win a Flourishes stamp set of their choice! So, get your passports ready, grab a cup of coffee, and enjoy the Flourishes Beautiful World Tour!
If you've jetted here from Finland (Anne-Elise's blog) your in the right country. If not, you may want to start your Beautiful World Tour at the Flourishes blog so you don't miss any of the inspiration along the way!
This month Kathy is hosting our Beautiful World Tour theme. This month we are to be inspired by a SONG!
Hello! I am Betty Wright! Welcome to the United States of America! I live in the state of North Carolina! Just a couple hours drive to the Atlantic Ocean! I live in what they call the "south."
For my card I am using Flourishes Hydrangea and Tiny Flowers and Tags stamp sets. I am using Flourishes Classic White card stock. I stamped the hydrangea with Memento tuxedo black ink. I colored with Flourishes Copic Color Collections.
I chose to keep my hydrangea flowers in soft hues of blues and lavender just like the ones in my garden. Hydrangeas are my FAVORITE flowers! I am sharing some pictures from my garden that I took earlier in the summer before the heatwave zapped them all. They were hanging full this year. Even with the heatwave these bushes have already grown a lot since these pics. We were fortunate to still get rain even when it was sweltering. There are only a couple of blooms right now, though. I hope to have more soon. I love cutting a few and adding to vases throughout my living space. Makes me happy happy, I tell ya!
I love hydrangeas because they are so huge and fluffy! Plus, you never know what color they are going to be each year since their flower color is determined by the soil. It is like Surprise! Surprise! Each little flower blooms to make the whole. Sort of like the people of the world. We all have a purpose. We need to get along and come together to make things beautiful! Combining how I feel about the flower with the kick off to this Beautiful World Tour, it made me think of the song... "It's a Small World After All!"
Betty, this is beautiful! Hydrangeas are one of my favourite flowers - like you said, they are just so beautiful when you cut them and put them in a vase. What a gorgeous card, and I love how you linked the inspiration to it!
ReplyDeleteSmall world, right? So nice to be on the same team together again. :) Love your layered diecuts and stitching!

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful card. I envy your gorgeous hydrangeas out side. I have wanted to plant them for so long. Maybe this year.

beautiful card Betty-and thank you for sharing photos of the gorgeous hydrangeas-I love the blue ones-
ReplyDeleteVery pretty Betty. Your hydrangeas are beautiful. Did you know that the color of the blooms depend on the alkalinity of acidity of the soil. Amendments to the soils will change the colors. Thanks you for sharing.

ReplyDeleteHI Betty, lovely soft colours you've used here for your hydrangeas. Beautiful flowers, I love how the acidity of the soil will determine their colour.
