Trick or Treat? Anything But a Card! ColourQ, Pumpkins, and MORE!

Editing February 5th 2011:  As part of Papertrey's 4th Anniversary Celebrations, Nichole has asked us to link our favorite PTI project we made during 2010 for a special and fabulous chance to win a huge prize.  I would have to say this sweet little combo is my fave for the year.  It combines my love of colors, creating my own stamped papers, die cuts, layers, and an ensemble with a treat!  It also uses some of my favorite PTI sets!

Happy Sunday!  It is Stamptacular's Sunday Challenge#81:  Anything but a card!  I made a spellbinder's pumpkin ornament and a clear envy wrap treat!  I am using the colors from the ColourQ Challenge 54!  Gorgeous ensemble of colors!

For my treat, I started with salted roasted peanuts and some candy corn.  This mixture is always a fun and delicious fall treat. Everyone has their on idea as to the perfect formula.  Whether it is two peanuts per candy corn or one peanut to candy corn to mix to give the same exact taste as a "Payday" candy bar.  I used a 4.25 X 5.5 clear envelop to hold my treat mixture.  I sealed the envy and ta da....instant container for my treats.  I then cut a piece of cardstock 3.5 X11.    You may have to play with the exact score marks a bit as it depends on how full the envy is and how lumpy.  I have mine at 4, 4.25, 8.5, and 8.75. I sort of have a quarter inch gusset on each side of my candy wrapper.  Next, I started stamping.  I used PTI's Distressed Stripes to create the vertical grape and olive stripes.  I inked the edges with Chamomile.  I die cut the Mat Stack 4 shape.  I used Background: Text Style to stamped a subtle scripty text for background.  I inked the edges.  I then stamped the largest of the distressed flourished images from the Embellishments set with pumpkin pie ink.  I layered a spellbinders lacey edge circle. Added another image in grape to the center.  Finished with a ticket tag from Just the Ticket, button, and gold curly que wire.

For the pumpkin ornament, I cut out 8 spellbinder's  beaded circles, heavily sponged the edges, and scored each down the middle.  I intentionally chose not to emboss the beaded edges.  I just went for the plain look for this project.  I folded one and used glue to adhere one side of one to the other until it met with the first one I started with.  I added a ribbon loop in center along with a fou fou bow for leaves.  I finished with a wood button(sort of stem), gold curly que wire, and a gold pearl.  I do not think this item has much of a function other than decoration.  You could spray it down with a pumpkin pie fragrance before gift giving so it has a nice aroma.  Other than that, just fun and a cute little decoration.

This treat ensemble is also for a few other challenges!

  31. What a fabulous project, Betty! I don't know which I love more, the goody bag or the pumpkin ornament! They are both just SO fabulous. I LOVE candy corn, and have never thought to mix it with peanuts, but as soon as you said Payday candy bar, a ding, ding, ding went off in my brain. Yes, that's it exactly. What a gorgeous wrapping you created for it. I would so love to receive that. LOVE the ornament, too. That is just so creative and it looks beautiful. I need to remember that idea. Thanks so much for all the inspiration. :)
