Two Roads Diverged! Shining the Light, Announcements, and MORE!

Happy Sunday!  I had a little time to spend in my crafty space today which is quite rare lately during the weekends.  My dd is home from university so we had a Twilight Marathon Weekend!  We literally watched all 5 movies back to back.  I must admit there were a few snooze moments on my part.   I think the kids have a couple of dozing pictures of me.   Anyway, after what seems like a long time sitting and watching, I was ready to get crafty.

I made a card using ODBD Quote Collection 1 stamp set.
I kept my card some what simple. I am using the sketch from this week's Shining the Light Challenge145.

For my card I am using some MME designer papers.  I stitched the panels and added a die cut frame and the sentiment to the center.  I finished with seam binding bow and resin flower.

A few announcements!

As always thanks so much for stopping by!

Today!

Today's card is for a couple of challenges! It is for today's SCS Feature Stamper Challenge(FS162)! Gorgeous gallery, Kristen. Here is the card I chose to case.

This card is also for ODBD Second Anniversary Challenges (ODBD2AC2)! This is day two of the challenges and there is an inspiration picture. This is where I derived my colors and paper choices.
Kristen focused on the dp, a sentiment, and a few pearls for her card. I did the same for mine. I am using ODBD stamp set called Let Us Begin. I used one of the quotes by Mother Teresa that come in the set. I stamped it directly to my Webster's Pages dp. Every once and awhile a dp comes along that is so gorgeous there is NOTHING else that needs to be done with it. I added a few punched butterflies. Two came from the trimmings of the Webster's Pages. One came from BasicGrey Origins. I finished with my fou fou bow, button, gold cording, and a few gold pearls.

Dance, Sing, Live! Verve Blog Party Challenges VSNOV09 A and B!

Finally had a chance to stamp! I have combined a few challenges. This card is for today's SCS Inspiration Challenge(IC208)! Thanks, Stef! Here is my inspiration picture.

This card is also for the Verve Blog Party Challenges! This is for VSNOV09A! A color challenge. Julee is challenging all participants to use black, white, olive, and turquoise! As you can see I went light on the turquoise and vintage everything up a bit. I need a color scheme that works well with a manly Birthday so these colors are perfect!

Before I made my card, I needed a sketch so I am using MOJO114!

I am using all Verve images. I am using Bountiful Backgrounds, Beautiful You, and Filigree Fantasy sets!

I cut out the top cardstock banner three times using one of Spellbinders diecuts that looks like the top note. I stamped the stripe panel from the bountiful backgrounds set. I heavily sponged the edges with some ranger antique linen and vintage photo. I stamped the background of the card with one of the images from the Filigree Fantasty set. I used ripe avocado ink and stamped off. The stamping off was not exact as I wanted some areas dark in places. More of a haphazard stamping off look. I sponged the edges and added my sentiment. I softly stencil inside the stencil with some adiraondack pool, ripe avocado, and antique linen. Then, I stamped off the same filigree image in the ripe avocado in the sentiment ofthe sentiment. I added layered ribbons and bows. I combined the mini bowdabra and the bow easy for this look. I placed one of the trio flower punches layered with a gold metallic dew drop in the center of my bow. I finished with some gold pearls.

I interupt this blog post at 2:17 pm to add a second Verve Challenge Card! This is VSNOV09B

This card is two challenges. The first is this week's SCS Ways to Use it Challenge(WT246)! While I did not use anything sweet on it, I did think of food while doing it hence the title. Does that count? Something about cocoa and razzleberry color combo makes me think of Double Chocolate Nut biscotti and raspberry coffee. I so need to find the raspberry coffee I used to buy in Indiana in alittle pack. Dunking the double chocolate nut biscottin into that raspberry coffee was out of this world fabulous!

This card is also for for the Verve Blog Challenges(VSNOV09B)! This one is a sketch designed by Laurie and Tosh with a twist. The twist is that it must be a Thank You card! I turn the sketch.I am using all Verve stamp sets called Grateful Elegance, Just for You, and a couple little Thank yous that received free from Verve just for ordering. Love those!!!Please check out this blog post for more card details!

Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC28)!!!

It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC28)!!! This week Silke Ledlow is our challenge host. Silke is challenging us to score it!!! We are to use any scoring tool we have to create score detailing on our cards. If you do not have any neat scoring device, no fear, scoring can be done with the groove of a trimmer and a bone folder or stylus. Your designs can be very intricate to classically simple. Whatever design you go for, we'd love to see what you create.

I am using Summer Botanicals and Timeless Quote stamp sets. I scored a harlequin diamon pattern to act as a piece of decorative paper for my background. I repeatedly scored an 1/8" vertical on chocolate cardstock to go behind my focal point. I stamped two flowers from the Summer Botanicals set, added a quote and a few tiny touches of rhinestones on the flowers, and some ribbon tabs to complete my clean and simple card. This is a 5 X 7 card. I purchased a pack of envys for this size card at Micheals one day when I had a coupon and could NOT find a thing to buy...I KNOW shoppers logic!!! So, I have a few this size I need to make.

A special note: I must say that I use my Score Pal everytime I make a card if I do nothing but score the fold. It has become one of my most used tools aside from my trimmer. I could never thank Deborah Anton enough for her wonderful generosity. Please read about that story here. Again, thanks Deborah!!!

This card is also for SCS CAS challenge CAS27(bling)! I kept the layout and design pretty simple. It is easier for me to score than it is to sort through all my dp...so that was simple, too. I love how it turned out.

Friendly Gratitude!

This card is for two challenges. The first one is for SCS Inspiration Challenge (IC179). Thanks so much Stef for the wonderful pillow choices. I chose this pillow as my inspiration.

This card is also for Dawn McVey's Raspberry Suite Color Challenge - Week 5

I am using PTI raspberry fizz, hibiscus burst, smokey shadow, and vintage cream. I am really loving this smokey shadow. I think it is a great neutral. It is truly a smokey hue, too. Love that. I am using a couple of PTI sets for this card. I am using Spiral Bouquet and Out on a Limb(pre revision edition).

For my card to look more like the inspiration picture pillow, I chose to use the larger scripty words in the Spiral Bouqet set. I stamped random themed words and a mini sentiment for the background. I sponged the edges to give it a little age look to look more like the inspiration picture. I chose the little dotted flower blooms in the Out on the Limb set to mimic the pink dots in the inspiration picture. I love how it came out. I used the wonderful quote by Josephine Billings.
I finished my card with a few little hibiscus burst buttons that Silke Ledlow sent me in the mail. Isn't she so sweet!!! Love them, girl!!! Thanks a bunch!!!
