For a Special Friend!

This card is for today's SCS Inspiration Challenge(IC203)! Here is my inspiration picture. This card is also for Mercy's sketch challenge(MTSC44)! I turned the sketch.

Today I am showcasing for you a stamp set from the Sweet 'n Sassy store called Special Women. I love this set. The flower is fantastic and the sentiments are wonderful.

I have a new background technique I would like to tell you about. I am using it for the background panel in this card. More later!!!

O Christmas Tree! SSS25

It is starting to look a lot like Christmas!!! Today I am showcasing for you a card for Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps. I am part of the Sweet 'n Sassy Christmas blog hop. I am so excited to be a part of this most wonderful time of the year hop!!! I am showcasing for you today a newly released digital set called O Christmas Tree. This is one of the fabulous tree images and sentiments that come in the set. I am using The Sweet Shop Sketch(SSS25) this week. Check out that link and play along. You may even want to make something with a Christmas theme! I really wanted to take this adorable Christmas tree image and vintage it up a bit. I printed my image and sentiment the size it came in the file attachment. However, the great thing about digital images is that they can be sized in editing software. If you have a great spellbinders label and the sentiment does not fit, just reduce it. Now, that is cool and so versatile.

I colored my tree image with copic markers. I kept the colors soft and light. However, I did add some ranger vintage ink to get it some warm tones. Since there is a cute little bunny in the picture, I decided to go with some nontraditional Christmas colors. I am using chocolate chip, always artichoke, and sweet blush cardstocks. I am also using some basicgray soft pink pattern papers. I pierced and faux stitched the panels to both background sections. I sponged with some ranger antique linen and vintage photo inks.
For the horizontal section, I love staggering my borderabilities..I have a little tip a alittle further down about how to line these up perfectly everytime. I used some sweet blush and chocolate chip for this section. I also ran the sweet blush through a SU texturz plate after I made the cuts. I finished with a fancy labels sentiment, bow with silver and button cording detailing, and silver pearl accents. I really love how it turned out.

Now for my layered spellbinders borderabilities tip. If you want the exact cutting marks and shapes to layer perfectly every time. Cut the border cardstock pieces the exactly length you need. I layer two for this card. Since these die cut machines cut through chipboard fairly quickly....I own the big kick, I figured layered cardstock should be a breeze. I use a tape one to stick them together and then pull them apart once they come through. I stagger the layers. On this card, the chocolate chip is alittle lower than the sweet blush border and all the shapes line up beautifully. Love that and I thought I would share.
