PTI Celebrating 11 Years: 2 cards 1 post!

Happy Sunday!  I spent some time in my craft room today creating a couple of cards for Papertrey Inks Celebrating 11 Years Challenges!

This card is for Day 4:  Floral Challenge!
I decided to use  Warm Regards stamp set.  I started with some watercolor paper.  I stamped and white embossed the outline images of the dogwood flowers.

Next, I stamped the stem and leaves using PTI cocoa bean and olive twist inks. Using a water brush I lightly shaded the inside of the petals with soft stone ink.  For the floral center I just lightly tapped the stamp holding it in my hand using some spring moss ink. For shading I added just a very light touch of the cocoa ink using a water brush.

I used the water brush to lightly brush around the edges of the leaves and the branches to create a watercolor effect with the stamps.  I grounded the image with some Ranger Tumbled Glass distress ink for the background.

I added some tiny black splashes all over the panel.  I added a sentiment using PTI Scripted stamp set in Versafine Onyx black ink.  I also used  Wine Bottle Tag #2 die (the smallest flag strip) to stamp and white emboss the rest of the sentiment. I added a panel of true black card stock to the  watercolor panel to help stabilize it as water can cause some warping.  I also love the tiny border of true black.  I used olive twist cardstock for the card base.  I finished my card with a few clear sequins.

The next card is for Day 5:  To create a card using stamps from the Retirement List.  For this one I chose to use Cutting Garden stamp set and Cutting Garden die collection.  I die cut the flowers and the leaves using watercolor paper.  I inked the flowers with scarlet jewel ink and misted them with water, then stamped them again in pure poppy with no water.  I love the rich blend of reds this gives.  The leaves were pretty much done the same way.  I used some prairie grass and kraft inks here.

For the background I chose to distress watercolor stencil.  I used one of the Stencil Basics: Diamond Stencils using kraft ink. I flicked on some black splatters.  I stamped the sentiment from the same set.  I added some loose threading and a few clear sequins to finish my card.

I am playing along with The Paper Players and TGIF Challenges with my second card.

Happy Birthday Transformation

It's Friday!  I am enjoying playing along with this week's Papertrey Inks Celebrating 11 years challenges.

This card is for Day 3: Transformation Tuesday Challenge.  The purpose of today's challenge is to redo or transform a card that you did not particularly love the first time around.  I chose to use this card of mine.

I am not saying I hate it.  I just wanted to redo it.  It was for an inspiration challenge.  I wanted to do the watercolor background resist in hues of pinks.  Instead of the sparkly blue leaf focal point, I wanted some pink on pink florals.

Here is my card transformation.

I started with some water color paper.  I stamped the Cover Up: Quatrefoil background stamp  in versamark and white embossed.  Next, I used ranger inks to create a gradient effect with hues of pinks.

Next, I die cut and stamped Gran's Gardens stamp set and Gran's Garden dies.  I used PTI inks in hibiscus burst, raspberry fizz, and scarlett jewel for the flowers and buds.  I used Prairie Grass ink for the leaves.

I die cut a sentiment strip using Wine Bottle Tag #2 die.  I stamped the sentiment from Birthday Strings Mini stamp set  using black ink.  I used some foam tape to pop up the panel and attach it to a  PTI Stamper's Select white card stock card base.  I finished the card with a few clear sequins.

I am playing along with CAS(E)ThisSketch Challenge.

Happy Birthday!

Happy Wednesday!  I had a chance to get crafty last night so I could play along with Papertrey Inks 11th Anniversary Celebration.  Day 1 is a sketch challenge.

I love sketch challenges.  It was hard to choose which sketch I wanted to do.  February is a busy month for us with lots of birthdays and Valentine's Day.  I needed a manly Birthday card for my father-in-law.  I decided to use Keeway's sketch because it  was a horizontal card.  I thought this was a great sketch for me since I rarely do horizontal cards.

I chose to make a side folding because I wanted to use PTI Noted: Scallop A2 Vertical die.  I used PTI enchanted evening card stock for the base and stamped Cover Up: Quatrefoil background stamp using PTI enchanted ink.   I layered a Stamper's Select white card stock die cut with one of the half and half die collection shapes with the same quatrefoil background stamp for some contrast.

For the focal image I die cut and stamped the Grand Finale Anniversary stamp set and Grand Finale dies using more of the Enchanted Evening ink.  I love this image stamped in blue.  I stamped the "happy" sentiment from Birthday Cheer stamp set and added the coordinating Birthday Cheer die cut in  gold foil card stock.  I did add a few clear sequins and loose threading for added detail.

I am also playing along with Seize the Birthday!

As always thanks so much for stopping by!

Be Mine!

Happy Sunday!  Popping in with a card to share.  I am playing along with a few blog challenges today.  I am playing along with this week's Papertrey Ink Make It Monday Challenge: Using different types of paper.  When I thought different types of papers, my mind, for some reason, automatically went to recycling.  I started with my card base using PTI Stamper's Select white card stock

Next, I cut a piece of Bath and Body Works paper bag from Christmas(note the letters at the bottom almost spell Bath).  I thought the buffalo plaid background mimics the inspiration photos brick background.  Plus, I was playing off of the green moss and black bike colors.  I kept the top edge detailing that came with the bag. I thought it offered a more rustic look like the outdoor scene.  Next, I die cut and stamped PTI With All My Heart stamp set using PTI Limitless Layers: Hearts die collection using PTI pure poppy ink.  For the black and white layered frame, I again used the Limitless Layers: Hearts and the black and white tissue paper that comes with a Sephora Bag.  I did glue it to a stamper's select white die cut limitless layers: heart die so it looked more crisp white.  When I started assembling the card, I felt like it needed something more on the background to follow along with the sketch.

I used PTI Star Scribble stamp set and white embossed the images. Since this gift bag paper has a bit of a sheen, it was difficult to get a perfect impression, but I really liked the distressed look for this card.  I die cut a sentiment strip and added a white on white row of hearts using PTI heart border die.  I did cut out one in red.  I stamped the sentiment and added the beads using PTI True Black baker's twine.  I finished my card with a few clear sequins.  I think this looks perfect to give to my hubby for Valentine.  Outdoorsy and masculine.

I am also playing along with Inspired by All the Little Things

Thanks for Being So Kind: Viva La Verve Sketch!

Happy Friday!  It is a new month and a new Viva La Verve Sketch Challenge. I have a card to share using February's  Viva La Verve Sketch.

For my card, I started with some pattern papers that I have had in my stash for awhile. For the focal images, I useVerve's Poppy Birthday stamp set and Build a Poppy die set. I changed up the leaves a bit and used Verve's Dream Big stamp set and Dreamy Leaves die set.  I used Verve's Kindness Matters stamp set for the perfect sentiment.

The decorative edge detailing is from Verve's Scalloped Trim Trio die set and  I used the stitched rectangle from Verve's Falling Leaves die set.  I finished my card with some clear sequins.  I could not resist adding some glimmer pen accenting to the centers of my poppies.

I am playing along with The Card Concept

and
Tic Tac Toe Challenge. (Across the center:Free(pattern papers), die cut, and sequins.

As always thanks so much for stopping by!
