Bless the Nation!

This card is for this month's Devine Design Bible Verse Challenge! I am using newly release sets by ODBD called God Bless America and In God We Trust. I am also using one of my ODBD favorites called The Cross of Christ. I am using some memory box dp and ranger ink. I use the top note die cut to cut a shape into some scripted font dp from Scenic Route. I stamped the American flag image on this dp using Ranger antique linen ink. I did the same image and color on the scripture oval. I stamped the eagle in some Palette dark chocolate just in the corner. I stamped the Cross in the left corner. I finished my card with some layered flowers and a flourish shape. Can you guess which flourish shape I used behind the flower? It is a little tricky. I finished my card with some layered prima flowers and gold domes.

The SAME card TWO looks!!!!

This card is for a few challenges. First, it is for today's SCS LSC215. Triple Play! Thanks so much Wendy for a fabulous challenge. This challenge is also for the monthly Divine Design Bible Verse Challenge. I am also participating in Sharon Johnson's (notimetostamp) hang it up challenge. I have a dangling heart charm I added to my card. Another fun challenge, Sharon!!!

I am using ODBD newly release 1 Corinthians 13. I love this scripture. I am using some dp I purchased online a several months ago. It is by Scenic Route and it is very bold and bright. I have been hesitating to use it because it is so bright.

For the triple play LSC challenge. I used two pieces of dp one at the top and one at the bottom....one layer....and I layered the oval nesties....two layers for a total of three layers. My oval scripture, ribbon, and charm are my three focal points. I used red, yellow, and green as the colors in the dp.....and white as my neutral. The card base is the free layer.

After I made my card, took the picture and did the editing, I decided my card needed a new look....SAME card TWO looks...so to speak. So, I took it apart....gasp!!!! I used ranger inks antique linen and tea dyed to distress all the papers and ribbon as well as the focal scripture. I kept both looks because I really could not decide if I liked one more than the other.

Which look do you like?

I Am the Way!

This card is for the Card Positioning Systems (CPS101) Sketch Challenge. I am using the newly released ODBD I Am the Way set. I have wanted to make a card using the largest of the curved Nestabiities. I cut out two panels in cardstock and one in Scenic Route Sonoma. I adhered the dp to one of the cardstock pieces. I punched out word window punches at the top to run my black grosgrain through to tie the front of the card to the back. I stamped my scripture in both black staz on and Ranger Fired Brick. I used my word window punch to punch out all the words in the scripture that are capitalized for emphasis. I added some fired brick to the edges of the punched pieces and adhered. I added some gold pearl domes. I punched out a circle and stamped the smallest lily in the set. I colored it and stamped another image colored, and cut it out. I added some regal red shimmerz to the petals. I attached over the other circle stamped flower using dimensions. I used black floss to create the X pattern that is in the skecth. I love the finish card. What do you think?

Flourishes Friday!!!!

It is Flourishes Friday!!!!! I decided to use the Flourishes, LLC Chairs set again. I love this set. It is so versatile. I really love upholstering or paper piecing, if you will, this chair. An empty chair can mean so many things. I thought this would be a good card for someone retiring or moving. I used the Many Sentiments set for the sentiment.

I decided to go with some warm tones and create some textures. The first thing I would love to say is that I used my Score Pal to make the score lines and create some texture on the middle panel. To read about my Score Pal story check out this link. What normally would have taken forever to do with the fiskars and stylus, I did in under a minute. Amazing tool!!!! Next,I started working on my chair. I paper pieced using a solid side of the MME dp. I cuttlebugged it to add some texture, then sponged it with Ranger fired brick. Next, I added some golden wheat Shimmerz. Once that dried, I sponged some more fired brick. I was going for a chintz looking upholstery, but after all that, it sort of has a leathery look. I still loved it so I kept it.

I finished my card with some flowers and a sentiment. There is a story here, though. Last Friday night Flourishes had a new release party at the SCS forum. It was a blast and a rush!!!! Prizes and games!!!! It totally rocked. Well, during all of our conversations, it came up that I have an issue with buttons. Latisha Yoast, one of the DT members, told me to go back and get that bag of buttons I started to buy and use them. Good advice!!!! I am happy to say that the two gold items in the center of my flowers are buttons!!!!! I got this really cool bag of metallic buttons at Micheal's using a coupon. I love the assortment and many do not look like normal two-holed buttons. How cool is that?!!!
