Happy Wednesday, friends! I have a card to share today using the new inspiration from The Card Concept Challenge!
The challenge is Harvest Adventures!
Hope you can join us and play along!
I was inspired by the beautiful autumn leaves and red truck. I created a Mixed Media styled card.
Today, I am using Spellbinders Clear Stamp of the Month along with Simon Says Stamp Fall Foliage Embossing Folder. I started with white card stock. I die cut a Rectangle Stitched frame and an Stitched Oval frame before I embossed the panel. I ink blended scattered straw, rustic wilderness, fired brick, antique linen, and brushed corduroy inks over the embossed areas.
For the center oval I only used antique linen and brushed corduroy inks around the edges. I used an artist brush with black acrylic paint and Starry Colors to add black and metallic gold splatters. I set the panel aside to dry. I focused on assembling the Special Delivery Etched die Volkswagen "Punch" Buggy. Anyone else remember playing that game? Once I had the car assembled, I distressed it a bit using some antique linen and brushed corduroy inks.
In order to stamp onto the oval panel, I used a technique I used several years ago that I called "flat embossing." You can check out that post here. I love texture and dimension, but sometimes it may be too much for a specific project. I still want the details not just all of the dimension. For this card, I needed to stamp the sentiment onto the oval panel. Now, I could have stamped before I embossed, but I still feel like that leaves the sentiment lumpy and distorted a bit.
So, instead, I run the embossed panel through my Gemini, jr. to flatten the embossing. I do this after I have ink blended so that I still have all that beautiful pattern, but without the texture. This gave me a smooth surface to stamp the sentiment.
For the sentiment, I used the Clear Stamp of the Month. I stamped the word "Sending" using Versamark Onyx black ink. For the smaller sentiment, I used the same stamp stamp set. I stamped using versamark ink onto black card stock. I used cream embossing powder. I added the panel onto an antique linen distressed inked card base. I finished the card with a few clear sequins.
Here is a list of many of the products I generally
use every time I make a card.
As always thanks so much for stopping by!
